Philosophy
Mythos: Aromas of the Other World delves into the legends and themes that live at the roots of Western culture. (In future years, look for an expansion into Eastern, Nordic, and African mythology as well). What purpose do these ancient tales serve, what needs drive them, what do they help us become?
The connection between the primal and the cerebral can be explored in the olfactory world: scents intertwine with instincts, memories, and dreams. Mythos encourages you to research, to connect with the idea of a fragrance and the notes that compose it.
Ask yourself: What is this smell? Where does it come from? Why does it make me feel this way? Go and find out! In this age of technology, the information is available. You only have to ask the right questions to learn remarkable things about yourself and the world around you.

Background
Elizabeth Bouinatchova comes to the fragrance world from a lifetime of experience with nature. First growing up on a small farm in Maine, then helping in her grandmother's flower shop, and finally spending many years working in floristry and landscaping, she has always been fascinated with plantlife.
Combined with her love of mythology and storytelling and her training in writing and performing arts, Elizabeth's botanical background made perfumery an enthralling pursuit. It has history, fantasy, drama, thought, feeling, science, research, and endless different permutations and interpretations. After eighteen months of intensive collecting and study, she started her official training at the renowned Institute for Art & Olfaction, a "rebel" perfume educator that defies the traditional notion of perfumery being an exclusive trade. Elizabeth believes in furthering this philosophy that the world of scent is for everyone, and we all have something to learn from it. |
